What are SMD adhesives, SMA and chip bonders?

SMD adhesives are used to fix electronic components to a circuit board before they are soldered by wave soldering (wave soldering), whereby the components can be small computer chips, but also large electronic devices.

SMD stands for “surface-mounted device”, which means “surface-mounted component”. So when we talk about SMD adhesives, we mean adhesives for surface-mounted components, for which there is also the term “surface mount adhesives” (SMA), which can be translated as “adhesives for surface mounting”. Another term for SMD adhesive or SMA is “chip bonder”.

Loctite SMD adhesives

The SMD adhesive Loctite Chip Bonder 3609 from Henkel is intended for dispensing printing and has a curing time of 90 to 120 seconds at 150 °C.
