ESD shirts

ESD shirts are T-shirts, polo shirts and tank tops that are ESD-compatible. These ESD T-shirts, ESD polo shirts and ESD tank tops are characterized by their conductive fibres to prevent uncontrolled discharges and thus damage to electrostatically sensitive components (ESDS). Carbonized (carbonized) fibres are often used to create the conductivity of ESD shirts. ESDS is the abbreviation for "electrostatic discharge sensitive devices", also known in German as "elektrostatisch gefährdeten Bauteile".

Areas of application

ESD shirts are mainly used in ESD protection zones, also known as EPAs. EPA is the abbreviation for the English term "ESD protected area". With regard to EPAs, ESD shirts are part of the standard ESD protective equipment. ESD shirts must be worn close-fitting and completely cover the clothing underneath. In this way, ESD shirts prevent the formation and transfer of electrostatic charges that can be caused by movement or friction.
